With so many recent changes to the tax code, it is crucial that CPAs, EAs, and all tax professionals understand how this recent tax reform impacts professional practices. This presentation will focus on the new Code Section 199A and will include the following:

  • Discuss what Congress hopes to achieve with the 20% Small Business Deduction

  • Examples of running the math for a traditional business and real estate investors

  • Demonstrate how professional service firms are treated under Section 199A

  • Demonstrate planning for income between the Phaseout Limitations

  • Understand what is a specified service trade or business

  • Show how to use defined benefit and defined contribution plans to reduce income

  • Examples of how to design capital structures for various business entities

  • Understanding the limitation based on W-2 wages and capital

  • Show treatment of carryover losses

He is the author of over 100 articles and columns and is the editor, author, or co-author of many books and treatises on wealth transfer and taxation. Mr. Keebler has been a speaker at national estate planning and tax seminars for over 20 years, including the AICPA’s: Estate Planning, High Income, Advanced Financial Planning Conferences, ABA Conferences, NAPEC Conferences, The Notre Dame Estate Planning Conference, and the Heckerling Estate Planning Institute.
